In the History of Tomato has gone back from early Aztecs as around the 700 A.D therefore it has been believed that the tomato is native to the Americas. It was not until around the 16th century that Europeans were introduced to this fruit.
Tomato has their origin in Peru. The tomato was brought in Europe in 16 century but until 19 century that raw tomatoes wasn't eaten people thought that the tomato was poisonous till that time.
Facts: The first tomato plants were planted in Greece by a Friar Francis in 1818, in the gardens of a Capuchin monastery at the Choragic Monument of Lysicrates (built in 335 B.C.) in Athens. There are at least 10,000 varieties of tomatoes.
